Why does comparing yourself to others make you unhappy when you’re alone?

Comparison is automatic, it happens every time you open Instagram and see someone’s new job or relationship. The problem is you’re comparing your real, full life to someone’s highlight reel. The same energy spent tracking others’ lives, when redirected inward, is what actually creates progress. Catching yourself comparing and asking “what could I do with this energy for myself?” is the shift.
